Cerulean skies are lost to me
vacation’s gone, I’m back to work
now only sombre clouds I see
cerulean skies are lost to me
without my pay I can’t be free
so now I changed to office clerk
cerulean skies are lost to me
vacation’s gone, I’m back to work

Back at work I wrote a little triolet. I will be travelling today, and will late for the dVerse open link opening time 3 PM EST. Hope to find someone at the bar anyway.
oy…i hear you björn… still having a bit of my holidays left but back to work soon enough… even though i love my work, just today i thought that if i wouldn’t work, i probably would cook and write and sew all day…ha… and maybe i would open up a small café with home-cooked meals…smiles… all the best for the start into work again and enjoy cali… wishing you a safe flight…
I really like my work to… but having to go on Bus trip on my second day (was decided on Friday) is not what I had in mind.
oh those first days back after being away can be brutal, even if you love your work…the freedom we had ever so briefly can seem so far away….if i did not work, i would def own a bookshop…smiles…
I would love to do that. And sit in a corner of the bookshop and tell stories everyday…get the kids to write poetry and stories too!
I think most people can relate to this, even if we love our work it is the fact that we’d always want to be some where (under cerulean skies). Gave me a big smile this poem, thanks for sharing.
Oh, the brutal work!! But, Bjorn you still have cerulean ink in your pen to write such wonderful verse!! That sure is a bonus!!
I think what you have expressed here is a universal lament, Bjorn. I have never heard anyone say “I am just so happy my vacation is over and at last I can return to work.” LOL. Safe travels to California.
Welcome back!
it can be quite a shock when vacation’s over, but you’ll get back into the groove soon, I’m sure.
Hope you had a fun trip.
Oh, and very nice write.
Oh, dear, I can feel your pain. But whenever you have your poetry, you have those Cerulean skies with you – I hope.
Vacation time is coming to an end and I feel you as well…sometimes it’s hard to go back to reality.
what a sad refrain – so hard to get back to the day to day working life – K
Well said, with a universal sigh. Love of both is intensified in our lives, and one part is made better by the other,
“without my pay i can’t be free” that sums up life, doesn’t it?
Dance to the Moulin Rouge
Were you in Italy? Those skies are truly cerulean. Well written triolet, and very telling. Well done.
This works very well as triolet Bjorn!
The form works so well here…and I know this feeling well. We enjoy those blue skies when we can, and look forward to them again when we cannot.
Feeling you, Bjorn — back from a 2-week holiday myself 😦 Lovely triolet!
Work can be a challenge and a bore! But one has to savor both. And it’s a luxury! Wonderful trolet Bjorn!

Routine is painful to get used to
It’s always sad when vacation is gone.
Ah the burden of the practical matters.
Dreams ala El Condor Pasa.
Take consolation: sometimes even practical matters can be undertaken beneath cerulean skies.
Cheers!
The refrain makes me sad for you. When I worked, it always seemed like I was only working for when I could afford the rare vacation. I’m free now. Free as long as Brian stays alive. Doing what you love does help though. There were times in my life when I thought I was living my dream… Glad you are back in the writing world though, she says selfishly.
So glad to see that is a “wiki” photo (what a nightmare). Cerulean is a blue dreamed more often than lived… but put a little aside each week and you will see it again. 🙂
It is so rough going back to work! Cool write.
Nice triolet, Bjorn. I am still waiting for my vacation, sigh…
Pamela
That repetition in your brief but effective poem…underscores your pain…But cerulean skies will come again, no doubt, Bjorn 🙂
Oh BR – I have just returned from a holiday up North (photos on post about Daintree) I am out of work at present – but you brought me back to earth with a thud 🙂 thank you..I think 🙂
In between projects at the moment. A bit aimless but excited at the same time. Is that possible?
You take care,Björn!
A lovely example of the form. Delightful read.
I do know the feeling of going back to work ~ Lovely work on the form Bjorn ~ We wrote of the same theme, smiles ~
Sigh… I know the feeling of the office desk looking back at you after a long vacation. So glad I don’t have to go through that anymore 😉 enjoyed reading this one…
So lucky to like your work and be able to write as beautifully and prolifically as you do, Bjorn. Have a good stay in CA.
Good. It’s nice to be liberated from the desk for a vacation. It can also be nice to be back.
Very well done! Love the triolet form when you write it!
I never liked vacation a work-aholilc was I…even working holidays for the fun I saw in work…when I could no longer work I missed it like hell…took me so long to realize it was hell in effect…illusions are scary things so scary…but never the less a beautiful job can definitely be a vacation in itself…
