Carpe Diem – Tribulation

Carpe Diem today is about tribulation. This is my interpretation, maybe slightly grim, and much more senryu series than hauiku,

A suffering nude by Amedeo Modigliani

waves of pain
from the loneliness
tribulation?

soaring heat
as soul transforms to ash
tribulation?

aching chills
in exposed adultery
tribulation?

death a solace
after tribulation
endless sleep

      • oh yes pictures play quite an important role while writing haiku.. well, I guess writing any form of poetry or free verse.. because you have to get a feeling within.. it is either an actual experience or through a visual one which inculcates in us a sense of understanding something.. anything and then we write.

  1. I really like the depiction of tribulation but wonder if you have to use the word since your descriptions tell us so nicely–as they say “show don’t tell”.

    • It was a little bit non-haiku.. but I wanted the effect both as haiku and as stanzas in a complete poem. The repetition of tribulation as a question is summed up in the last haiku (stanza).. It is perhaps not haiku, but I hope it’s poetry.

  2. It’s like you reached inside my head except the word adultery would be a child related word. Searing, painful…definitely tribulation. Touched my soul.

  3. Your first haiku is tribulation. The being damned. And one may ask if we live in a time of tribulation. By prevention pills the nature is regulated. By the watch the culture is regulated. And by psychology the spirit. Never before it has been worse.

Your second haiku is hell. The fire is the conscience.
