Today Carpe Diem is a special by Kyoshi Takahama.
the night of Spring –
an elbow-pillow
on the desk
I might need to explain this a little, as spring goes over to summer, the daylight get longer and longer. It’s now 10 PM and still not entirely dark. In a few weeks dusk will smoothly transition into dawn.

the night of Spring
I watch dusk that never ends
change into dawn

It sounds as if you live pretty far to the north. I bet that endless dusk is quite beautiful.
I live in Stockholm.. which is quite far north,.. and a dusk going into dawn is something to long for.
Gorgeous!
Thank you 🙂
A masterpiece bjorn. Nothing wrong with writing haiku inspired on a haiku by a classic master. It’s just a challenge to try writing a haiku which even is better than the original. Nicely done.
Thank you – indeed high praise.
it’s beautiful Björn. i love the idea of a seemingly perpetual dusk transitioning into light ^^
Still a few weeks away here in Stockholm. But I admit it’s a certain magic adding to our midsummer celebration…
The idea of unending dusk leading right into dawn suggests romance to me! Lovely!Night Of Spring
You’ve understood why Swedes are crazy about midsummer.
Your haiku sounds good, it’s made me dream of staying up all night in the land of the midnight sun.
Staying up is something one is tempted to do, and it also means waking up in daylight at 3AM 🙂
beautifully penned! you captured a moment and its feeling in your words so well!
Thank you 🙂
Bjorn, this is delightful
Makes me think of a special moment
When real magic could really happen
Cheers!

Thank you sir, yes the long daylight is really magical.
Lovely poem. How is the unending night at midwinter? I would be tempted to never get out of bed.
We have a slight tendency for hibernation.
🙂
So lovely and at first was thinking metaphor until I saw the comment about your long hours of sun. Perfection!
