Menace of suburbia

A little fun writing for dVerse open link night. I took the picture the other day.

Phil was driving to the bar
exclaiming to the world
“finally I’ll join the gang”
in leather jacket looking cool
his vehicle is humming fine
heavy metal playing load
wroom wroom boom boom

he parked his shining black
tuned vehicle
beside the Harley Davidson
it might be a lawn-mover
but it could outperform
any of the biker’s bikes

he’s really ready now
to go from hang around to
be a member of the
Outlaw Gardeners
deal in grass &
weed protection services
a menace of suburbia

  1. Love it! I lived in a lakeside neighborhood where it wasn’t unusual to see this. Most of us had goolf carts, but nobody thought anything of it if someone showed up at the beachfront on their riding mower.

  2. LOL! Love the photo and the fun ride…Reminds me a little of Marlon Brando in that old flick…”The Wild One”….tamed by a lawnmower…good stuff, Bjorn!

  3. This made me smile… reminds me of my boys and how much fun they’d have “checking out” the riding lawnmowers at the hardware store.

  4. Great writing–deals in grass and weed! I don’t know if you’re familiar with the story, but the American country music star George Jones has a true experience that resembles this poem. You can find a summary on his Wikipedia page. Very well done!
