Carpe Diem Special is to write haiku inspired by the following haiku by Onitsura
The cherry-flowers bloom;
We gaze at them;
They fall, and …
and what could be better than to have a woodblock by Hiroshige the woodblock master. The end to the haiku seems to me to tell me that the Cherry Blossom is just a brief thing and then life goes on, which I strive for in my haiku.
falling petals
adorn the raven hair
of passing geisha
~~
cherry flowers
a farmer shoot a glanze
then till his fields
~~
mount Fuji
silhouette will not change
after cherry bloom

OMG your first haiku is superb! I thought it was an example by Basho (the only one I can remember of the ancient poets).
Thank you 🙂 I got so inspired by the nice woodblock
Yes, that first one. – wow!
Oh thank you 🙂
Nice – all of them! Let us remember fruit trees always flower before they get fruit.
But maybe the blueberry does not. I don’t know. I have never seen a flowering blueberry plant. Maybe they are too impatient.
Oh the blueberry flowers looks like little pink hats, very nice indeed.
What do you know! I tried to find a picture of it and I found one on Wikipedia (here). I have always thought those pink things were immature berries! Smile. 🙂
Well. That is how I recall it. It is almost 20 years since I saw those things.
What a feeling of sad nostalgia your last poem evoked in me! Lovely!
Thank you 🙂
Oh you caught the beauty so well/ worthy haiku my friend
Thank you 🙂
Gorgeous, all three, but my favorite is the 2nd one most of all.
I kind of liked that one best myself too 🙂
beauty in your Haiku – the 1st was for me the most stunning.
Thank you, it fell natural from the woodblock
Yes, first a stunning moment
Thank you 🙂
The 1st haiku is a masterpiece !!!
Thank you 🙂
A really nice trio and I like the meaning you have injected.
Thank you 🙂
The first is perfect. The third reminds me that we are fleeting when compared to the universe.
Bravo Bjorn 🙂
There are things that remain unchanged through the passing of seasons.
Lovely set of haiku. That first one is a winner 🙂
Thank you 🙂
The last one really stunned me. So obvious, yet… I like the different standing points you took. It seems you have covered the important parts of life – entertainment, work, mortality (as reflected in the immortality of nature). 🙂
loved the set, B! especially the second one!
oh the first one is remarkable and the art piece… exquisite..
these are magnificent
the 3rd is the deepest.
Cheers!

LOVE this…the haiku and the painting reminded me of my cherry blossom times in Japan…with the ever steady view of Mt Fuji.
