Carpe Diem Special – Onitsura cherry flowers

Carpe Diem Special is to write haiku inspired by the following haiku by Onitsura

The cherry-flowers bloom;
We gaze at them;
They fall, and …

and what could be better than to have a woodblock by Hiroshige the woodblock master. The end to the haiku seems to me to tell me that the Cherry Blossom is just a brief thing and then life goes on, which I strive for in my haiku.

  1. Nice – all of them! Let us remember fruit trees always flower before they get fruit.

    But maybe the blueberry does not. I don’t know. I have never seen a flowering blueberry plant. Maybe they are too impatient.

  2. The last one really stunned me. So obvious, yet… I like the different standing points you took. It seems you have covered the important parts of life – entertainment, work, mortality (as reflected in the immortality of nature). 🙂

  3. cool and aloha Brudberg – i like the image of cherry blossoms in raven hair. and this Mt Fuji that remains after cherry blossoms fall. very cool. aloha.

  5. LOVE this…the haiku and the painting reminded me of my cherry blossom times in Japan…with the ever steady view of Mt Fuji.
    Thank you
    Peace
