Carpe Diem Haiku – Aomugi (green barley)

Carpe Diem today prompt today is Aomugi (green barley). And when I hear barley my mind goes to beer. But I also see green fields.

  1. Indeed barley gives both hope and feeling of joy. Very nice perspectives. Positive. Remember Jesus said he was bread and wine (ref. the communion). As bread he is the corn seeded in the spring.

  2. Barley fields, turning ripe yellow from green are a sight to watch in fields of Panjab, India, and are associated with many folk lores. However beer is not much on mind here, but love for barley fields is indeed very strong. 🙂

  3. I didn’t think about beer at first, but after reading your haiku set it brought nice memories to me. I love the second haiku … can almost hear the larks singing.

    over the green fields
high above in the blue sky
    skylarks singing

    Just an impromptu verse 🙂
