Carpe Diem Haiku – Tsubame (Swallow).

Carpe Diem prompt today is Tsubame (Swallow) a wonderful spring kigo that I’m waiting eagerly for. I found this wonderful woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige

Utagawa Hiroshige _ swallows

pair of swallows
dancing in the air
killing flies
~~
like acrobats
somersaulting joyfully
spring swallow
~~
flying low
before the coming rain
hungry swallows
~~
~~ perhaps not entirely correct ~~
~~
hard to swallow
when it’s clawing at my throat
my winter flu

  1. Like the idea of swallows as acrobats. Could see them darting through the sky as I read. Lovely.

  2. Lovely set Bjorn.
I have spitfires dogfighting over the the English Channel in mind now…as with your flu, hard to swallow perhaps.
