Should I accept yet another challenge to write? lot of fun things to do … yes why not. This was an invitation to write a Haībun at the Līgo Haībun Challenge. Go there and check it out. It’s cool stuff.
I needed a picture, and this one I took at a cafeteria the other day, contained a story I thought.

The chocolate mousse cake melts as her audience is captivated by the vibrant timbre of her voice. Forgetting their previous envy, they know it is a privilege to be seen in her company. Around them, they hear the mumbling voices, like carnivores ready to destroy them for a place at the queen’s table. The waiter’s stiff attitude melts for her husky voice and devious smile, and he gives them additional cake. This is a day to remember.

I like the haiku. “Spills coffee” good.
Thank you 🙂
I can picture the scene you’ve set in my head. Good job.
Why not join writing haibun 🙂 seems to be a great combination of prose and poetry.
EVERYTHING here fits just right..extraordinary start as a first haibun…really works well – all seem to melt together yet each has its own identity, the photo, paragraph and haiku….truly today you are inspired.
Thank you. I have of course exaggerated how they behaved, but I felt there was some truth in how the the three girls behaved (I hope they don’t read my blog)
Reblogged this on More Tea.
Nice! I really like “stiff attitude melts for her husky voice.”
Thank you. I have seen it happen 🙂
i enjoyed this… you have a way of capturing the real, deeper stories behind something which may seem like common every day scenarios.. you’re a true artist
Thank you. I have so many appreciative readers also 🙂
I didn’t see a story when I first looked at the picture.
You brought it to life.
Really well done.

I remember how it looked as they were talking to each other, and you can see some of my imagination in thei body languages and postures.
Nicely put together… the photo works with your words.
Thank you 🙂
The photo tells a story but with your writing it became alive – mumbling voices, cake, waiter…the feeling of me being there. Really beautiful.
Thank you, it is certainly a mixture of my real memories and imagination.
Wow.. your words and the photo are so befitting. And the haiku in the end is an icing on the cake..:-) Nicely done.
I think it’s a nice idea. maybe it’s a haigun (picture + story + haiku) 🙂
Wow, just perfect. I agree the story matched the photo perfectly and the haiku wrapped it all up nicely. So well done!
Thank you. I keep photos for occasions like this.
the magic of her voice..others are probably as captivated as Walter. nicely written..
That’s true I think.
simply brilliant…your words along with the photo melt together nicely. ❤
Thank you 🙂
