Carpe Diem Haiku – Fado

Today the Carpe Diem prompt is fado. I sit a listen to songs by Amelia Rodriguez to inspire me. Portugal is closely linked to the sea and therefore the image of a longing fisherman’s wife pops up in my mind. This picture can set the scene (taken on the west coast of Sweden)

lamenting her fate

  1. YOU surpassed yourself today….! Really….I think you may even have surpassed your own expectations….really fado fits haiku when done like this. Very, very nice. Each one.

  2. i love the lone seagull crying and the sailors who never made it home, paints such a sad picture perfect for the theme..

  3. Wow! Bjorn this set is … just gorgeous. I can feel the deep emotion in these haiku …

    On the wind’s shoulder
Fado is hitch hiking to her
    Who lost her sailor

  4. This took my breath away…
Living on the coast of Maine, it is a frequent cry…
and you captured it so well.
    “single gull
    crying a fado
    sailors lost ”
You captured the life of a sailors wife/family.
The seagull certainly sing s fado…
    Peace,
    Siggi

  5. gulls circle above
    my love crossing seven seas
    in a sailor’s hand
