Today Carpe Diem have one of my favorite words, verdant, which essentially means green including many synonyms. But I decided to make a slightly humorous twist by using this excellent woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi depicting a warrior drinking sake directly from a cask.
brave warrior

morning verdant face

morning verdant face
shivering from consequences
sake yesterday
But that was slightly humorous. I want to write one more in line with longing for spring. Nothing is better than wooden anemones blooming in a spring birch wood.
under verdant roof
early bloom of anemones
silver birch temple

Ha! You nailed that awful morning feeling with the droll use of verdant!! Well done! 😀 The third one set a beautiful scene, one I can only dream of at the moment!! Thanks for sharing.
I like the picture. The cask comes from Onishika. Must leave now, maybe I’ll write on verdant myself, tomorrow. Your haiku are inspiring. Lothar
PS Happy Birthday! Hope it is a verdant one!
Tsk, tsp now maybe he knows better
Maybe, but somehow I doubt it!
Verdant Bowl
I like the sake set. Funny.;-)
Ah – the verdant face of misery.
But the anemones are beautiful.
Cheers!

The brave warrior has an Achilles heel! And love the second haiku bursting with colour!
Reminds me of Musashi.. The sake set is superb.
Nice take on verdant 🙂 The last one is my favourite “Under verdant roof…”
Nicely done, Bjorn
Good humour in the first two…not met very often (by me) in haiku. And the third one – a true gem.
