A Carpe Diem special is wonderful. To try to write a haiku inspired by a haiku-master’s poetry. Today it’s this one by Masaoka Shiki:
cold winter blast
a cord of a sedge hat
cut into my neck
What better than a classic woodblock print to add inspiration. I guess if the poet has problem with a tight cord in the wind. Imagine the woman in her kimono. This print by Torii Kiyomitsu shows it quite well, I see the poet getting other on his mind at this sight.
the mischievous gust
tries undress the courtesan
watching man enjoy
