Winter kigo on Carpe Diem prompt is winter rain, fuyu no ame, and my take on this prompt starts from this picture taken the other night in the first sleet. The bush is a mock orange (Philadelphus) smelling like jasmine in early summer.

I love your winter hidden fragrance and the jasmine flowering. The word “armory” is perfect to describe winter for life goes on under the snow.

Brrrr — I believe my mock orange will get some freezing temperatures tonight … although without the nourishing winter rain. Hard to believe it was 80 degrees F a couple of days ago — and 30s today!!
