This week’s Visual Dare entry. A prompt for writing a 100 words story. Pictures courtesy of the prompt. I decided to write a Villanelle, and did of course break the 100 word limit. However there is a great deal of refrains, so I think I make the limit on unique words 🙂
he had a childhood that was tough and grime
adopted and his home had sailed away
with confidence that’s lost to thief of time
a man that took him for a single dime
and never let him bond in love or stay
he had a childhood that was tough and grime
was used for burglary and other crime
he never could with other children play
with confidence that’s lost to thief of time
the boy grew silent and would only mime
and could not cry, inside his soul was grey
he had a childhood that was tough and grime
as he passed away the bells could chime
he left this world and none would for him pray
with confidence that’s lost to thief of time
this tale of him that never reached his prime
and those who should protect did him betray
he had a childhood that was tough and grime
with confidence that’s lost to thief of time

This is very high quality work indeed.
Thank you very much.
Bjorn this is my favourite of your work so far – excellent and also very emotive.
Thank you. The picture of the little boy looked so sad.
I truly enjoy your work, Björn, very nice work here.
Thank you John, it’s nice to get a little bit more space for your creativity.
This is beautiful and quite powerful. I’m so pleased you approached the visual dare in this format. I agree with all the comments above. This is a lovely piece, wonderfully realized.
Thank you. Vianelle is a lovely poetry form. A little bit like a sonnet but much lighter due to repetitions.
100 original words – yes!!! Lovely work, and sad; but beautiful in its execution. 🙂
Thank you, exploring these different poetry forms 🙂
