Today the Carpe Diem is to write haiku inspired by Isso
rising into
the year’s first sky…
tea smoke
I find it very difficult to write anything inspired by mastership like this, but I make a try. The image I paint is an old man (or woman) sitting on a cold new year’s morning marveling that yet another year has been added to his already long life. Picture of a servant bringing tea taken from Wikimedia Commons. I also abandoning my 575 approach I usually take, I know it’s not needed or even correct, but it is and will be my poetic “security blanket”.
new year’s hope
embracing tea cup
warming hands
fragrant tea
new year promises
willow sleeps
aging hands
yet another year
tea memories

I know what you mean about trying to come up with verse anywhere close to the masters Chevrefeuille introduces us to. That being said, your set is very wonderful and classic.
Thank you 🙂 will not shun the specials from now on.
Awesome haiku set Bjorn, I love the way how you have used Issa’s haiku as your inspiration. Thank you for sharing on Carpe Diem.
Thank you, it’s a joy to challenge myself. Thank you for keeping the meme going.
The third haiku I found very strong and inspiring. The haiku is an interesting form, and at times difficult to write (due to the simplicity of them). Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 🙂
