Looking back
to this year when democracies
crumbled
when compassion’s been painted
as weakness
and when purpose to govern is fear
for savage enforcement
when war on civilians is waged
for expansion for few
when lying’s been branded as truth
and messenger’s shot
the only hope that is left
is that somewhere
sometime
a bottom is reached
a bedrock of birth for renewal
so that after traversing this desert
we may rest by the springs
of being united
in compassion and peace and go on.

I am late for the prompt by Punam with dVerse. The prompt was about looking back at the past year. From a personal level it has been a decent enough year, but alas I have been affected by too much changes for the worst in the world. Maybe I would feel better if I didn’t read the news and turned my back to the world…
December 17, 2025
I love it.
I thing it was a horrible year, but thank you
I stopped looking at the news a long time ago. I don’t exactly live under a rock. Close enough.
For my personal wellbeing I should… but still I feel I have to take a deep look resisting,,,, and news seep in anyway
Trying times, Bjön.
Thanks for dropping by my blog
MERRY CHRISTMAS
🎄much love
I try not to watch the news, Björn, but can’t seem to escape it. And it seems to be all bad. I hope we have reached that ‘bedrock of birth for renewal’ and 2026 will better for everyone.
That is how we will look at this year.
Your closing lines echo what most of us feel and hope for. May the new year be the beginning of that climb upwards.
Yes
very beautifull 👍
I like your poem of hope for the future in spite of the division and conflicts of the present.
