The shallow orbit we ride
through lesser known backwaters
with only Brodavian alloys
to protect against the cosmic void
we traverse bringing us closer
and closer to the farthest point
of our journey that in fourteen
hundred mondi-revolutions
will end our Portican expedition
to annihilate of the little lives
we have known. In the mean-time
between birth and destruction
we like the robbits we sent
before us, fornicate
with the void of demise.
Death in space is the falling
forever, where only the pre-
destined crash with the planet called
earth and the payload we have
carried across parsecs and parsecs.
Intent on a mission to punish the
life-form of evil we’ve spied on
since the day they started
to murder each other, their
planet and with plans to carry
their evil away into space.
We are simply carrying out
orders to sanitise space. from
vermin and pests. Your demise
will be silent and painless,
and you will not even be slaves.
Today Sanaa hosts dVerse with a prompt on sci-fi poetry.

A bleak peek into the future, Björn, and a shallow orbit indeed! These lines are terrifying:
‘Death in space is the falling
forever’
and
‘We are simply carrying out
orders to sanitise space’.
Yes… maybe they are out there somewhere, with the ship on its way.
Goodness this is powerful! I especially resonate with; “Death in space is the falling forever, where only the pre-destined crash with the planet called earth and the payload we have
carried across parsecs and parsecs.”
Thank you so much for writing to the prompt, Bjorn! 💙💙
I am terrified of such a future specially bringing our evil ways to the other worlds. But no doubt it will happen sadly. I love however of the possibility of travelling the universe as if its just an airplane ride, if only. It’s a dark future otherwise specially with your final stanza.
Fascinating…starts in interesting time then plunges into dystopian darkness…though to be honest it feels very real. Nicely done, very.
Nice one

Being sanitized from space seems like a sad end for the evils of mankind. Perhaps well deserved!
Bjorn, I find no fault with their mission. I admire their lack of malice. To us we are the ultimate life form, to them vermin. Just stomp us and carry on. I do think it is best we end here before we infest any other part of the universe.
A sad poem but a reassuring ending
Ho ho ho, that’s Florida they are going after first! You been reading our governor’s email? Homo sapiens sure is a different dominant species than the one imagined in the “Star Trek” TV series! Spoilers of their own planet used to be voyagers of hope. Well drawn, Bjorn.
AI told me that Florida comes first… I never read his email, but sure google has done that.
That’s a terrifying prospect indeed. Sadly mankind’s actions do warrant such an extreme measure. At least it’s reassuring that the end will be silent and painless!
Silent and painlesss, huh? Great mercy shown to Terra by Porticans.
“In the mean-time
between birth and destruction
we like the robbits we sent
before us, fornicate
with the void of demise.”
– I bet there’s a fascinating back-story to this… that’s the second time you employed “void” and the emptiness does echo… Love the “robbits”… !
Strangely I wrote a poem called Void-voyager this morning, not released yet and not overtly about space/sci-fi but about a bereavement observed.
