Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Stan, still did his best, to struggle
and strive to be a man for his boots;
and never fell short with the ladies,
being kind and good with his hands,
soft but turning stiff when it counted.
Today De hosts the Quadrille at dVerse and the word to embed in our 44 word poems is sharp. Today I wanted to be a bit funny for a change so please don’t be offended, and if not you may still be offended by Monty Python

Nice! Stan the Man. 😉
Not the sharp dressed one, but maybe that matter less 🙂
I can’t stop laughing, Björn! I was tickled by your quadrille and really enjoyed seeing The Lumberjack Song again. My friend Becky and I used to sing it all the time when were at university in Cologne, and we both had copies of the Monty Python Bok (a hardback book that was hilarious, but I lost my copy years ago). One thing, though, ‘strife’ should be ‘strive’.

Thank you… I remember singing it too (when being a bit tipsy) … thank you I will correct

Good one! I might have had a giggle at Stan’s expense. 🤣
He is just charmed by your giggle.
Outrageous giggles from me! Cannot catch my breath. Great take on this quadrille challenge, Bjorn.
Thank you Helen… Stan is a great charmer.
A good one. I like the striving to be the man for his boots!
I think he did strive a lot.
Tut! Tut! Bjorn! But oh so good! ;D
🙂
Sounds like a good man to me. In his own way.

Very good I think

The song has a way of getting stuck I think…

I’d completely forgotten about this song. What fun to hear it again! Loved your quadrille.
Once I my choice fell on the lumberjack I had to use that song.

I agree with Aboli! This was a super fun read, Björn!

Hahaha! I suppose Stan is good for some things.
Yup… he knows his things
Haha! Shocking! 🤭

Stan – good for something!
one thing. one thing
Ah well! That’s what matters, isn’t it! 😉
Thanks for the guffaws, Björn.
These lines depict a character named Stan who, despite not being particularly intelligent (“Not the sharpest knife in the drawer”), still puts forth effort and determination to fulfill his responsibilities and present himself as a man. Stan is described as someone who takes care of his boots and is successful with women due to his kindness and skillfulness. The phrase “soft but turning stiff when it counted” suggests that Stan is gentle in most situations but can be firm and resolute when necessary. Overall, the lines portray Stan as a hardworking and reliable individual with a soft-hearted nature.
Amazing!
Hilarious, I think the Pythons would love it too.
Good one
