I mix tequila
triple-sec,
squeeze the lime
and let my finger
graze the glass-rim
salt it, serve
myself alone.
I imagine sea,
sounds of surf
the smoky scent
of barbecue
and music laughter,
yesterday
and far away
Summer smelled
of coriander leaves
but silence cuts tonight
with jalapeño claws
I sigh
but only cry
when chopping onions
with mariachi playing
to the walls
I prepare my food
tacos for the cold
shells and carnitas,
getting drunk
again
to at least pretend
tomorrow, white
that life was good.

Today we are writing poetry at dVerse to Melissa’s to celebrate the spicy Guacomolo day (guess what she serves at the bar). We should take inspiration from the recipe and include at least 4 from the following list of words: avocado, bunch, chop, cilantro, coriander, cumin, finely, fork, jalapeño, kosher, lime, mash, onion, pepper, raw, red, ripe, salt, seeds, serrano, shell, smoky, spice, squeeze, tomato, white, yellow
I love this part “silence cuts tonight
with jalapeño claws”! So creative. You have definitely captured loneliness and longing to be somewhere else.
I am actually by myself tonight and listening to mariachi just to get in the right mood.
Well I hope you don’t look like the man in the picture. He looks like he could use a hug.🤗
I think you had a lot of fun with this one, Björn, and I enjoyed reading it. I really like these lines:
‘Summer smelled
of coriander leaves
but silence cuts tonight
with jalapeño claws’.
I love to use word to create new poems… we should have more word lists I think
What a great use of the words….this poor sad guy crying over onions, eating alone. It reminds me of the cliche name for a guy like this, a sad sack.
I have only heard about dry sack and that he is definitely not..
Raising my glass ~~ cheers!
cheers
“jalapeño claws” is just wonderful!
here’s a glass of tequila raised to you and those jalapeño claws. sometimes a enjoy a night to myself.
Your vivid images are great throughout! Well done.
luscious! Making guacamole to bury the pain of heartbreak. Exquisite!
You fulfilled the brief fully Björn, I forgot to include all the foodie words and just wrote about avocados… Very tasty!
Those last five lines say it all
A summer smelling of coriander leaves, nice. Wonderful poem Bjorn.
A nice way to spice up a lonely evening.
Much🖤love
Love this, Bjorn…Well done.
I enjoyed the discussion about Generative AI last night and though I can see it is very similar to Midjourney, I must give Bing a try…
