Shade is universe,
a dwelling dense,
with senseless gravity.
Shade is questions
seeking quantum answers,
of rot and moldy plum-skin left.
Shade is state of mind,
a robber’s soul,
the blow-fly drumbeat afterwards.
Shade is loss
the way your footsteps
— washed away.

Beautiful! and fantastic writing my friend.
🙂
P.S I posted a new poem yesterday…Hope you enjoy it. I created and came up with 3 new words on there. You will flip out on the title maybe or just the poem itself. 🙂
From the empty drumbeats to the loss, as footsteps are washed away, this is poignant and goes straight to the reader’s heart. Beautifully written, Bjorn.
I think of a shade as a spirit really, an undercurrent here. k.
Excellent write, Björn – there’s a real sense of emptiness and loss here
These shades colour our life
I used to have this art teacher. We could never shade dark enough for her. Interesting trying to give form to the inyangible. Only a perception. I like the thought it is a question searching for an answer.
Bjorn, I love this. Especially “Shade is questions seeking quantum answers” love the rhythm and the concept. Tickled my brain..
Such a moving piece. The final stanza is especially poignant.
I love the last two stanzas.
Damn, this eerily reminds me of quite a few bad days when my husband passed away and I was both numb to and yet hyper-aware of the world around me. The final verse especially.
From your title to the last word of the poem – stirring
You had me at ‘shade is empty drumbeats’…..
Wonderful structure – the repetition at the beginning of each stanza: awesome. I hear this poem, spoken aloud – but softly – leading up to that last stanza (to wash away).
