That minute spark
between your breaking heart
and fiery passion in your past
glitters like a dewdrop on the forest path
that turned to moisture
on the bottom of your soles
A precious moment lost
that could have saved you from despair
and from this quest of searching
what you must have lost inside
My friend,
go back through bogs and marshes,
but tread carefully,
cause on the abyss of your grave
you’ll find it once again:
That universal truth you’ve lost
by searching it.

I loved this response to the prompt–Happy Friday
This holds a beautiful truth…and wise advice as well.
Powerful writing!
thoroughly enjoyed.
love how i was left with the sense that if you dig too deep for the meaning, you’ll lose it altogether!

Striking the touchstone between hope and despair makes for a very strong image. And yes, the resulting spark can so easily be lost, or even misfire into something darker.
Whoa! Perfection! Oh my goodness! How I love the responses to this inspired prompt!
Bjorn, Well written. 🙂 —Susan
Eeriness–Beckett-like eerie–when an abyss holds the truth–that one searches and paradoxically can only find by not searching. Sometimes that search is for a shadow, a lost past. Eerie, effective poem.
It takes lots of patience and bother for the perfect truth. It can never be a sure thing Wonderful word craft Bjorn!

Woohoo!!!!!! That it’s a powerful social comment! Nice twist on the subject matter, and yes I believe that maybe a big part of it. Great work and thanks for playing!
Great write Bjorn. The hard we look the harder it is to find. Yes!
This is very striking Bjorn. I am not sure that I agree with it, but I think it is very well-expressed. Thanks for the thought=provoking poem. k .
I love the circular shape of this poem. And the hope found in the despair of the words.
The expression: can’t see the forest for the trees, comes to mind. So often the minutiae of daily living causes us to lose our way.
Very beautiful, it touched me
