tadpoles in pond are spawning
as tender spring morn dawning
though they’re safer in numbers
crane still eats frog and slumbers
I could not get anything better than this, it sounds a lot like a nursery rhyme. Jen of Blog it or lose it introduce us to Tanaga…

Bjorn, I would think a tdpole by itself would attract less attention than a large gathering of them for birds. Smiles. >KB
Yeah. I would think that tadpoles are not too brainy
It only takes one. That’s the whole point to evolution. >KB
Good memories of trying to catch tadpoles when I was a kid and grow them into pet frogs. Can’t remember if I had any success.
I did that too.. and they grew a while.. I think we released them after a while..
You did a great job on the Tanaga Björn… I am not even close to composing a Tanaga …
Rhymes is not so strange for me.. the problem is that I write most of my rhymed poetry in pentameter.. and Tanaga should probably not have that rhythm..
This is a great tanaga Bjorn! The tanaga form is deceptive – it seems like it will be simple but in reality it’s a tremendous challenge. I think we worry about creating something sing-songy in rhythm – but when you consider the Tanaga’s roots in oral history, a song-like or nursery-rhyme- like rhythm isn’t too far off track. 🙂
just like the challenge in writing a sonnet.. sometimes I would have consider to use near-rhymes to loose it up somewhat.
True. 🙂
Rhyme is not really my ‘cup of tea’
Nursery rhymes have their place of importance. I like your Tanaga – but then I like all things ‘frog’. I told a story too – in a series of Tanaga.
Cheers ~Jules
The rhymes concern me less than the rhythm… but I read your story.. a very nice little story..
an enjoyable poem, Bjorn…nature taking care of itself. 🙂
how brave of you to try. I am not sure this form with the syllabic count and short length with rhymes will work well in English without sounding like that. I do a lot of rhyming poetry but everything I thought of came out just like this. Still thinking on it!
I agree that it sounds like nursery rhyme….
But nobody can ever forget the rhymes… They remain in our memories forever…
And I loved the flow and rhyming…
Good one!
That was a humorous piece, Bjorn. To protect the species, nature produces a lot of young ones because, sadly, a lot don’t make it to become adults.

Very good Bjorn! You’ve put us to shame my friend 🙂
Lovely and fun!
I live by a pond with frogs and herons! The frogs manage but I worry about them . K.
