burning blood on fingertips
desire quenched in last embrace
the hunger of November clouds
see sharpness of surrender
his life forfeit to dreams undone
behind the curtains of her hair
the iciness of marble arms
that pulls him down – and further in
and meeting daggers of her lust

November 5, 2013
This is so lush with metaphor … such a lush poem!
Thank you.. Munch was a good inspiration..
nice personification of november here… i never saw her like this you know…but it makes sense…it def. makes sense..
A beautiful flow… and what a beautiful way to give life to November. Now, I get an urge to listen to November Rain. 🙂
You have captured the icy flavor of November, and I understand the idea of dreams undone…some of which will have to wait for spring!
November has a taste of its own and is not the most pleasant of months, stuck as it is between the beauty of October and the festiveness of December. A fine and unique portrayal!
oo la…you def have to watch out for those arms of lust…they will drag you down in the wrong circumstances…and those daggers can be pretty sharp as well…of course too this makes a great metaphor for the turn to winter….
loved the imagery here..vivid emotionalism..I could feel the tingle in my fingers and the shudder in my body as if November’s arms had wrapped around me. Nicely done
Vampire poetry is always rife with lust; which too many equate with demons, monsters, & paying with one’s life for the ride in the orgasmatron (Barbarella) Nice working in this piece on several levels, but you are def bang on with the notion that November can seduce before it bites. Miss your recitation of this one; like it when you find the time to do that; adds so much.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere – the chill is not quite happening, however I felt it in your words ~ nicely penned BR.
Very cool piece…I can’t believe it’s November already !
i love the passion and intensity of this!
So steamy and urgent, but at the same time surrendering. Very November; very Scorpio.
It got so cold in the last two days… so sudden. You’ve described the descent perfectly.
Last embrace – so much finality in the iciness of it all. Nice poem!
how many times we have surrendered behind those curtains…
My my…this certainly has resonance here, reading it in November itself in Finland…..powerful words
This is striking and surprising… I have not thought of November that way before.
Love the image of the hunger of November clouds
Oooh she is icy where you are…very different in this part of the world…she’s a little blustery here…way too much to say! 🙂
I specially like that hunger of November clouds ~ It’s not my favorite month though (all grey) but we make it colorful and lusty as can be ~
INCREDIBLE! Your images on this poem are so surreal I felt like I was in your mind. I like this a lot! my friend. 🙂
great personification of my best and worst month
I;ll never look at November the same way again….Terrific images here! ~jackie~
Lovely image of November.
Passionate Portrayal! November is certainly brazen and Lush in its embrace and fleeting fervor. SOOOO nice!!!
November a time when a chill starts to fill the air..but, lustful thoughts will keep you warm.
Oooooo!! Very nice! 🙂
hey bjorn
I really like the fact that you used the Munch piece: I have studied him in great depth and admire much of his work and his approach. I do feel a connection with this painting and your words appear to probe the picture and elucidate 🙂
I love your November~ Gorgeous and so filled with passion~
Your images are piercing and immediate. What I admire most here is the way you have made this focused and compact, enhancing the impact of your ideas. Nice work.

This felt so three dimensional, as if I could hold it in my hands (warily, given the subject matter!). And I’m always a sucker for a bit of Edvard Munch 🙂
That’s quite a novel take on November! Dramatic and passionate. Not sure it will make me view him/her/it in a new light, but I can see what you mean.
Oooh – that hurts so good. The second stanza really pierced me.
Dense with imagery and meaning– I think my favorite of your so far. You keep getting better.
Deep running sensuality with great images. Somehow I never thought of November in the same breath as lust but I suppose it could help to take off the chill!
Oh such a cold place to be! Quite the icy grip Bjorn, beautifully rendered.
Bjorn, I love the feel of this poem. Great use of metaphor.

I view the words..as an anthropomorphic expression of the fall of fall..when November loses that summer feel…completely in some areas of the world..I suppose yours..
But here a Christmas
Day..can include air-conditioning..
I long for snow…and some others long for sun…
Both are the best..I think….
ooh shiver. So good.
