November lust

burning blood on fingertips
desire quenched in last embrace
the hunger of November clouds

see sharpness of surrender
his life forfeit to dreams undone
behind the curtains of her hair

the iciness of marble arms
that pulls him down – and further in
and meeting daggers of her lust

  1. You have captured the icy flavor of November, and I understand the idea of dreams undone…some of which will have to wait for spring!

  2. November has a taste of its own and is not the most pleasant of months, stuck as it is between the beauty of October and the festiveness of December. A fine and unique portrayal!

  3. oo la…you def have to watch out for those arms of lust…they will drag you down in the wrong circumstances…and those daggers can be pretty sharp as well…of course too this makes a great metaphor for the turn to winter….

  4. loved the imagery here..vivid emotionalism..I could feel the tingle in my fingers and the shudder in my body as if November’s arms had wrapped around me. Nicely done

  5. Vampire poetry is always rife with lust; which too many equate with demons, monsters, & paying with one’s life for the ride in the orgasmatron (Barbarella) Nice working in this piece on several levels, but you are def bang on with the notion that November can seduce before it bites. Miss your recitation of this one; like it when you find the time to do that; adds so much.

  6. I specially like that hunger of November clouds ~ It’s not my favorite month though (all grey) but we make it colorful and lusty as can be ~

I really like the fact that you used the Munch piece: I have studied him in great depth and admire much of his work and his approach. I do feel a connection with this painting and your words appear to probe the picture and elucidate 🙂

  8. Your images are piercing and immediate. What I admire most here is the way you have made this focused and compact, enhancing the impact of your ideas. Nice work.

  9. That’s quite a novel take on November! Dramatic and passionate. Not sure it will make me view him/her/it in a new light, but I can see what you mean.

  10. I view the words..as an anthropomorphic expression of the fall of fall..when November loses that summer feel…completely in some areas of the world..I suppose yours..

    But here a Christmas
    Day..can include air-conditioning..
I long for snow…and some others long for sun…

    Both are the best..I think….
