The way we paint in colors to conceal
like it’s an oil paint where we once again
could have a life of purple love in verdant spring
with tangerine and cerulean blue
golden splashes – a touch of sunset
but brownish stains of our past bleed through
the painting of our life is more an aquarelle
the more we try to mix
the sparkling color dulls
and grey the canvas of our life becomes
so hand me more titanium white
to cover up and start again

Arrangement in Grey and Black No.1, Portrait of the Artist’s Mother by James McNeill Whistler
Still out travelling. But a prompt of color that Claudia gives at dVerse is such an inspiration.

Kicked ass again, brother from a Swedish mother; glad you found some time to dive into the Claudia color prompt; nice work.
yep… with watercolor everything has that nice transparent feel until you mix too much and then it gets murky and dull… love me acrylics and oil paint where you can start over and over… like we do each day… i’m glad for that white paint you know…glad you made it… have fun in helsinki sir…sauna and cooking with friends sounds nice…smiles
beautifully colorful, Björn – & meaningful… past does bleed through ugly sometimes, can’t hurt to apply a little of redemption white
The ending couplet says it all ~ White to start again ~ Enjoy your weekend ~
Nice. You’re so right, the grey always bleeds through. But we can start again with white. Good write.
a masterpiece of colours and words, images and inspiration.
…concealing with colours is where we all started in creating an ideal life & lifestyle… later in time we’d realize that the one we burried & concealed deep within is what would bring the brightest of happiness & peace… smiles…
the brownish stains of our past that bleed into our life….smiles…if only we could start again…though i guess life is all about restarting again and again in our decision to paint life vividly…
This is absolutely wonderful! Seriously love this poem! Great imagery & meaning behind it! Awesome write! 🙂
We hide away our own colours of past by coating on a white facade on ourselves. Heart-felt and beautifully written.
How much significant it becomes to hide… against the judgmental world. The past is buried but it never leaves us. Well portrayed.
And I loved the painting… reminded me of Mr. Bean’s movie. 🙂

I like where you are coming from here..once an artist, always an artist..to appreciate how one goes over and over the same territory, only to make matters more obscure and grey …to recover…titanium white, of course, a large tube please 😉
Yes very well done how wonderful to cover the canvas and start all over again. 🙂
Isn’t that what we all once every so often. I imagine if we could live forever, we’d do that quite regularly. Start over, new family, new friends, new insights. You managed this quite deftly.
Oh, if only that were possible…! I remember the disappointment, as a child, when all my colour mixes would end up khaki no matter what I did. A striking and instantly recognisable parallel.
Ah, if only it would be as easy with life….if only we could clear our life canvas when we wanted to & begin anew with a fresh white canvas!
Oh yes, that’s what we do. but we just can’t prevent the stains of the past seeping through. Well said…
So creative! I love the idea of titanium white to erase the past & start over. Wonderfully done 🙂
just don’t lick the tube….
Do you paint? You must. I do a bit, and it really does work like that. What a great metaphor.
Strikingly beautiful, Bjorn. You paint with your words.
Cleverly wrought or rather painted.
Word painting, very well done my friend!
