a putrid smell of rotting flesh
and movement from the beast
that hides in darkness of my home
reminder of a feast
Oh should I dare to face this foe
and to my kitchen go
where I can almost hear it moan
as its menace slowly grows
I tip-toe to its hiding place
and grip its furry neck
such monsters are an easy catch
and soon I have it decked
‘cause after all it’s just some cheese
that’s stayed a little long
but when it leaves my kitchen fridge
I sing my little song

Today at dVerse Shanyn wants us to write about monsters that are a little bit less dangerous. Well I think a bad cheese can qualify. Pub opens at 3 PM EST and I will be a little late in as usual.

Old cheese …. Eww … Good choice Bjorn. V clever and funny.
ewwww….so its squishing between you fingers…..hairy cheese….ok, i shivered…and have this insane need to wash my hands repeatedly…ha
How funny!
haha…. oh my… i once forgot to clean a pot and put it away… and i was wondering where this strange smell comes from… i spare to describe how it looked like once i found it…oy… fun take on the prompt björn
Very clever, Bjorn! If only all ‘monsters’ could be gotten rid of as easily as furry-necked old cheese!! Excellent take on the prompt.
That was funny Björn! In my own region they produce a very smelly cheese and you have to store it in a very tight container if you do not wish its smell to invade the whole kitchen. Is Norwegian cheese particularly well-known for its unsavory features?
This is our frig you write about. It has an evil breath since we moved to France. But in a good way.
This may have been some special cheese you grabbed by it’s furry neck. There are some furry cheeses in the market here.
I played this for the whole family. We all enjoy listening to you read to us. My 12 year old said “Oh good! It’s Bjorn reading again!” We LAUGHED! Thanks for a great family moment.
Keep it up. We love your reading voice. 🙂
Alice
good one! Once at a rugby tournament we sprinkled limburger cheese under the seat of a guys car seat. That memory still makes me smile
ha Oh this made me laugh!!!! I really enjoyed it and might consider the whole voice recording adventure on a post as well. Wonderful work.
Oh, what a smell that makes ~ Good one Bjorn ~ Happy weekend ~
Oh! Now that would be a bad smell. A fun write… certainly enjoyed reading it. 🙂
Yuk. Can’t stand the stench of you scary poem. Ha. Nice take on this .
No cheese for me, thank you. I’ll have something from the sweet trolley instead 🙂
A clever twist to the monster that continues to bother us. A little innocent package but a bother it is still. Nicely Bjorn!
Hank
Very nice! The texture made this poem….”furry”, I imagine green.
eeeuuuuhhhhh!
Monsterlicious! 🙂 And did you skin it to eat the clean inside or was it rotten all the way through? There is some scary cheese out there – Dragon’s Breath comes to mind. Ewwww!
Have seen a few little furry creatures and science experiments in the deep recesses of my fridge from time to time too! Loved your recording of the poem, but was a bit disappointed you didn’t “add your little song!!” Nicely done!
This had me laughing, especially because we had to throw out some old cheese earlier today. Nicely written.
beautiful twist! 🙂
Oh brilliant! This made me laugh out loud – well done! (Cheese never stays that long in my fridge, I’m half mouse – squeak! :))
As Norwegians we should teach that cheese how to open Swedish refrigerator doors. *smile*
Love it. Reminds me of the time I left some stilton cheese in my carry on bag. Three days later there was a peculiar smell in the cupboard:)
Ha!ha!This is super cute & so very creative-loved it Bjorn:-)
