Ligo Haibun – the outlaw

To the symphony of morning birds he walked deeper and deeper into the familiar wood. He knew the places were he had played as a kid, and following the stream he would find the cave were they used to play outlaws. He came as prepared as he could, the food he had would carry him deep into the winter months, and he knew he could catch fish and snare birds to make it into next spring.

How his relationship with Emma could end with this he couldn’t fathom, he had been kind and caring, but she would never comprehend that within his heart was a highwayman that would never accept humiliation. He would lay low and see if 6 feet was deep enough to obliterate her memory.

  1. That was a sentimental read. It makes me wonder if the past be forgotten, becoming an outlaw.
I liked “forest secrets” as a reference to the harsh realities of life.

  2. So there is more to come?? I’ll bite …
The photo reminds me of Rio Celeste in Costa Rica, even have a photo of me and friends on a log over the river. Had the beautiful blue river join a clear river (like the photo). Thanks for sharing.
