Carpe Diem Tan Renga – Buson’s peonies

Carpe Diem Tan Renga is to write a completion to the haiku by Buson. The completion should be 7-7 making the completed poem a tanka. After reading a little I spent extra energy on that the middle line (the bridge) should be able to be separated into two separate three-line poem. I hope it works.

The haiku by Buson is:

in the stillness
between the arrival of guests
the peonies

Peonies by William Merritt Chase

Peonies by William Merritt Chase

in the stillness
between the arrival of guests
the peonies
outshining the visitors
in their vibrant kimonos
