A little piece about spring, shared on dVerse where Claudia wants us to write about spring.

First leaves, near Nantes by Camille Corot
the spring – a time of change
as buds are hesitating
to break forth
————> in leaves
the spring – a time of change
as hormones made me finally
to ask you for
————-> your love
the spring- a time of change
I realized that you already
had left me for
————-> another
the spring – a time of change
as returning frost will kill
the early bloom of
————–> plum tree
the spring a time of change ?
but if you never take a chance
all will stay the same
—————> for you

spring is a time of change and awakening…my fav time of the year.. a season to fall in love and in love with..smiles …ah and i’m all for taking the chances…
But change is also scary for some… There are those that’ll be left behind.
Change is one thing we can’t avoid.
True, but it’s not always easy to embrace.
I like the refraining first line ~ Spring, like change will surely come, one way or another ~
I think that spring as time of joy is also a time of threat of change… Karin Boye have written a great poem about this http://www.karinboye.se/verk/dikter/dikter-mcduff/of-course-it-hurts.shtml
This is wonderful, Bjorn. I like all of the changes you wrote of. We have to remember it is not only a time of change of weather.
True… and change is for many also anxiety.
Change can be frightening, but it is a necessary part of life. Love the change happening around me in the pattern of the seasons.
Changes are needed… but I truly believe that most of us are really afraid of change.
I think that’s true, very much so. However, we can fight it or fear it, but it will still happen, regardless of our reaction to it. Sigh.
And if you don’t dare to embrace it, someone else will grab it.
yes!
Bjorn – really liked the form with the pause on the last line of each stanza – gave it a really great rhythm. K
Thank you, a little experiment I did… Was a little bit inspired…
Your are right: for some people change is scary.
It seems you invented a new form. Give it a name, perferably a name starting with the letter -u-, as there isn’t one at present and I am stuck. 🙂
ha, I’m not sure if it’s truly a new form.. but I will consider it 🙂
The spring a time for change..that it is ..take a chance on rebirth of the inner self..nice write..I like it..
Changes are needed.. like a spring cleaning… out with what’s old and in with the new.
Such an original take on spring. Usually, we just extol its virtues, but as you say it is a time of great change, and that can be threatening.
I love spring… but it has more sides than one…
Lovely presentation… it can read as one or five. I see you thought “hormonal” too…something about love in the spring air.
Yes, The effect hormones from daylight especially is really big. Especially here.. We are still gaining half an hour more daylight per week… Soon I will not see the night.
Without risk there is no reward, and better to try than to regret. Nicely penned.
Carpe Diem
Change is exciting and addictive. Life is not a dress rehearsal .Tis short and goes faster and faster as one gets older. Too marvellous an experience to miss. Like your form and your message.
But we always now there is a risk in change, just like the flowers dying in the late frost.
This is a real crackerjack of a poem. You’ve taken the obvious and made it extraordinary. Congrats on that.
Thank you 🙂 wanted to go a little beyond the normal beauty of spring .
hey…was continually running into you on the dVerse trail…smiles..just wanted to say thanks and how much i appreciate it that you’re visiting so many of the poets who linked up…
I try my best 😉
Liked the structure BR, ahh yes change we embrace or we don’t, if we don’t do we miss on what could be..should be.. I smiled at the 2nd Stanza. 🙂
Thank you.. yes I have to admit I thought about a younger me…
nothing much happens without taking a chance, very true! it could be said even waiting for something to happen is taking a chance, after all, it might not ever happen 😉
esp liked your second stanza,
“the spring – a time of change
as hormones made me finally
to ask you for
————-> your love” –
the idea the hormones made you do it made me smile, then the following kicker stanza that she’d already moved on made me smile, not sure what you intended, but very much enjoyed it 😉
yes, change happens, either way 😉 thanks bjorn
I think that change is al about timing. If you are too early the frost might kill you. And if you are too late, there is no room for you….
that’s for sure, saw my tender tulip plantings killed off one late winter frost here in texas, two days later, record heat 😉
Bjorn, I like the repetition with the different perspectives of spring. Change is always a bit risky, sometimes sad. Very nice.
Thank you. I view spring and autumn as times of change.. summer and winter is stability.. and change is always a little risky,
I’ve always embraced change. To me it was exciting.
Nice write, Bjorn. I like the structure of this one.
Change is difficult, and I thought the same until I was asked “do you want to change wife?” and I had to admit that not all change is for good.
A time of change indeed! Spring is of newness and things reborn or born anew! Love is in there somewhere… 😉
Yes new love comes in change.. or renewed love.
I think change is good, once you get used to the idea anyway, it’s not so bad..means one is not bored….breakups can happen to the best of us; get on with life..we deserve more…hope your summer is a long one..
Summer will come .. and I really like the change of spring..
Change is rarely easy but is certainly inevitable.
Certainly…. still scary and can go wrong.
Thank you for sharing– The thing is, IMO, spring is appreciated best in contrast with winter– reading your very lovely poem, I was taken back in time, where I lived in the moment. Now, I rejoin my youthful self and rejoice in everything spring– even the heartaches of it.
Yes, the heartaches are certainly more in your youth. Spring is such a strong experience here in Sweden. Rapid change… 30 minutes more daylight per week, melting snow etc. Sometimes it’s too much at the same time.
