I thought I would not do a trifecta this week. To little time really. But then why not in the nick of time do a triolet (fits perfectly I think). I have also linked this to my weekly entry in Visdare.
I’m whorling in a warp of time
behold my future and the past
once I was in youthful prime
I’m whorling in a warp of time
and see my aging days are grime
my death in pain I watch aghast
I’m whorling in a warp of time
behold my future and the past

Nice. This is the first time I see a trifecta, I think, and in your hands it is nice. You make me think about being a river, whirling down the hills. And for sure the river needs both its future and its past. It needs justice (the sea). And it needs truth (the rain/well). The Son and The Father. And if the river has no feeling of the sea or the well it will get insane. I know that for sure.
Good that you find an interpretation that works for you 😉
This has a nice flow (:
Thank you 🙂 tune up the guitar and sing.
Oh… love: “whorling in a warp of time” – the diction is precise and evocative.
I’m not sure I have ever seen “whorl” as a verb – is this your own coinage??
No matter the answer, your poem works for me. 🙂

I looked it up on thedreedicionary.. and yes it seems to be.
I often learn something when I read your work. I had not heard of a triolet. How perfectly appropriate for a trifecta entry. I’ve always loved the word, whorl, like the whorl of a fingerprint. I love the way you’ve put it to use whorling in a warp of time. Great poem – and a great graphic.
The graphic is from Visdare. Another great prompt to use.. 🙂 Triolet’s are inspired by french poetry, just like Villanella and Rondeau. Thomas Hardy was a master of triolets. 🙂
Such a sweet rhythm and rhyme to tell such a ghastly tale! Love the triolet!
It’s fitting trifecta isn’t it? Name comes from the refrain that’s repeated 3 times
I feel caught up in the whorl when reading this. Well done.
Great That was my hope
|Very nice flow to such poignant words 🙂
Thank you 🙂
A beautiful story unfurled !!!
Interesting one. I liked the format, and of course the content.
Thank you Ted 🙂
My hat is off to anyone who can use one entry to satisfy the flash requirements of two or three different challenges! Lovely work!
Ah but this time it was soo easy… time and whorl it all came together..
always enjoy your verses – no exception with this one!
Thank you John 🙂
Nice one! I like the meshing of past and future; the blur in between them is a whorl that makes me think how quickly our moments pass by.
Thank you. The picture worked so well for this.
wonderfully depicted and visualized!
I see why you liked my peaceful death. Your writing feels like torment. Hugs if okay.
There’s a lot of energy in this, spinning back and forth – exhausting and thrilling.
Thank you
I’m always eager to see what writing form you will use to respond to a challenge. Lovely! :)))
