I wanted to try writing a ghazal sonnet but missed the dVerse opportunity. Now we are supposed to write about memory, and that goes well with ghazal I think. The memory is not so specific but more the feeling of summer memories.
I hope I got the ghazal style right, and my name is hidden in the last line, there are bonus points for anyone detecting it. Shared on dverse

I fly through winter on the memory
my solace is the summer memory
a smell of garden honeysuckle rose
in February linger memory
on winter streets I feel my feet are wet
but mountain streams they whisper memory
the faces in the subway are so grey
I keep inside a cleaner memory
when days are short in dreary cold dismay
musicians songs deliver memory
and coming home I clean the snow away
I come inside and enter memory
at Friday fireplace we can relax
my love you are my bearer, memory

Love that picture. Goes well with dreary cold dismay
Thank you,… sneaking picture in the subway is useful.
Good work on the ghazal sonnet ~ the rhyming words in all 7 couplets, before the refrain, memory is well done ~
On the last couplet, I am guessing if your name is your bearer ~ Smiles ~
My name is Björn .. It has connection yea
your name is Bear?
pretty cool…we used to have honeysuckle all over in the summer…we would pop and suck the honey from them…def some cool memories there for me….
Thank you, Honeysuckle is indeed sweet and a slightest whiff brings up a lot of memories.
..great ghazal sonnet..seems effortless …easy…last name one who bares burdens?
Nae, it relates to my first name Björn 🙂
I know that Bjorn means bear, I remember from a famous tennis player years ago!
Exactly 🙂 a gold cup for you
Memories do have stories !!!
I could probably have been more detailed.
Well done — I enjoyed the choice of “memory” and its many fine uses.
Thank you. Ghazal was so much fun to write.
Bjorn, this is so perfect…the form and your writing of it is so beautiful and, indeed, in winter we can turn to warm memories.
Thank you. To bear the sunshine inside is the way to cope.
i love it!
Thank you. 🙂
great flow and ghazal is just right for loopy memories =)
Thank you, I loved to write it.
…i like this a lot…gives a soft feel & easy flow perfect for a classic ghazal & deep enough to meet the appeal of a sonnet… well done poet… smiles…
Thank you, I was so sorry to miss the ghazal week, and I really wanted to try this 😉
This has a reassuring feel to it that whatever darkness there is can be relieved by the memory of sunny days 🙂
I think without the memory is a battery I charge each summer to take me through the winter. 🙂
Very nice, Bjorn–the poem and the ghazal. A success.
Thank you 🙂
i like how this moves from being outside , getting the feet wet, sitting in the subway with wet feet and then going and drying feet in front of the fireplace
for the thousandth time
