I sculpted a little sonnet from a picture I took the other day. Played around and used purple bloom as a kind of refrain, I updated the end a little… No tomb any longer, and I think it sings a little better.

oh let me lie and rest a little while
in blissful perfumed scent of purple bloom
and lull me onwards with your sweetest smile
my love, you can release me from this gloom
Oh nymph, come here in joy and share this bed
please come with me, caress the purple bloom
oh, come to me and let me kiss your head
and then we can escape impeding doom
my love please come and let us share the heat
oh let us merge and share this purple bloom
and let us mingle under silken sheet
oh stay and let us never leave this room
she left, I’m now alone with purple bloom
my lonely room has turned into my tomb
my love, my bride, I’ll never be your groom

Brilliant words for a beautiful picture.
Thank you. Writing sonnets is kind of fun.
I like the lovely purple blooms but sad that it is turning to a gloomy tomb~ Good work on the sonnet as this is a challenging to write ~
Thank you, I really exercise my iambs. Actually the dVerse poem was written in tetrameter which I practice daily.
This inspires me to want to try to write a sonnet. It came out simply lovely.
Please do, it’s quite fun
The form works really well for you – impressive.
Thank you 🙂
Very emotive, caressing the purple bloom indeed 🙂
Thank you 😉
I like your use of repetition, particulalry of ‘bloom’ and ‘my love,’ interweaving the themes. My only criticism is that the ‘turned into a tomb’ seemed slightly cliche and was a let down following the woven imagery and musicality of the rest.
Thank you, I wrote it in a hurry.. More as a play with words than anything else. Using repetitions in poetry is something i wanted to try.. I might rework the two last lines.
Lovely imagery, Bjorn
For some reason, I kept thinking of Prince’s Purple Rain… Interesting. 😆
