Today the Carpe Diem haiku prompt is silk. And what better to take a woodblock print from the “flower and willow world” of the geisha. So called because a geisha should beautiful like a flower but tough and resilient like a willow wand. This beautiful print is made by Kitao Shigemasa in 1777.

Lovely pictures–the woodblock and your poems.

Thank you, it’s so inspiring to combine the two.
Silk seduction would be hard to resist, wouldn’t it? 🙂
Silk and Sky
I guess so, therefore the geisha had to.
Lovely, hope you don’t mind that I posted a link to this Haiku on my blog. Let me know if you want me to remove it. It inspired me to try my own Carpe Diem Haiku so thanks 🙂
Not at all, but hope you tie back to Kristjaan’s blog not mine. 🙂
The woodblocks and print visuals are definitely your trademark…1st one just stunning..2nd more controversial..!
I love woodblock prints, and also thanks. From the Geisha’s point of view the second one is hardly controversial.
Yes – with you – meant in a good way, as it ‘pushes the envelope’ a bit..
🙂
Love the alliteration of “s” and “w” sounds which creates a soft romance in these thoughts! Lovely!
I know alliterations are a little controversial in haiku and usually try to avoid them but in this case I just couldn’t. I have tried to write a little alliterative verse, it gives a very nice effect actually.
Lovely take on ‘silk’ … I have read several ‘silk-haiku’ with sensuality in it. Another common consciousness … very nice to see and read that in someway all contributors of Carpe Diem are connected.
The word invites to sensuality, I really like that,
Beautiful prints and magnificent haiku ~
(A Creative Harbor) ^_^
Thank you 😉
You always bring the woodblock to life so vividly. These are wonderfully written. Thank you 🙂
Thank you so much. I have started to live woodblock prints.
hmmm silk seduction and playing hard to get… i like it ^^
Playing or your duty.. I think the geisha had to do it that way. At least originally.
Strong imagery with those delicious undertones of sensuality…
Thank you, silk certainly invites to that. 🙂
like petals of flowers… wow… quite an image..
Thank you 😉
Loved the reference to geisha 🙂
