Carpe Diem Haiku – Silk

Today the Carpe Diem haiku prompt is silk. And what better to take a woodblock print from the “flower and willow world” of the geisha. So called because a geisha should beautiful like a flower but tough and resilient like a willow wand. This beautiful print is made by Kitao Shigemasa in 1777.

  1. Lovely, hope you don’t mind that I posted a link to this Haiku on my blog. Let me know if you want me to remove it. It inspired me to try my own Carpe Diem Haiku so thanks 🙂

    • I know alliterations are a little controversial in haiku and usually try to avoid them but in this case I just couldn’t. I have tried to write a little alliterative verse, it gives a very nice effect actually.

  2. Lovely take on ‘silk’ … I have read several ‘silk-haiku’ with sensuality in it. Another common consciousness … very nice to see and read that in someway all contributors of Carpe Diem are connected.

  3. Your artistic choices suggest you have the soul of a haiga-poet! Have you tried making art to accompany your words? Lots of happy faces today. I am so 20th C. No idea how to emot -with -a -con!!!
