Today Carpe Diem prompt is love story. I have chosen this woodblock print by Edward Munch as the illustration. The kiss from 1897, my ambition has to describe the story from three different viewpoints with one haiku for each.
fulfilling embrace
merge in love together
conclusion in bliss
~~
forgetfully kissing
their passion hides the sorrow
of a deceived ex
~~
publicly display
sealed mutual commitment
of eternal love

I have long admired Munch’s piece /The Scream/ since I was assigned to do a project on it in the 6th grade. Thank you for bringing this piece to light for me and for narrating it with your poems.
I’ve never seen this print before, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I particularly like your last haiku.

This is new to me… and all the three perspectives have done justice to Munch’s work… You are so good man… and you bicycle to work… nothing can be cooler!
The middle haiku bites!
Shadowy Love Story
I mean, it has barbs and lances of sorrow—the weapons of deceit.
Lovely set of Haiku. The 2nd verse is really sad. Loved them all!
Great interpretations of the woodblock. The second jumped out at me 🙂
Awesome … I didn’t know this ‘kiss’ by Munch. Really a nice set of haiku inspired on this woodblock …
