An end with new beginning

When life is darkest there is a silver lining
~♂~♀~
She’s turning silent at his words
With doleful eyes a pantomime
The dance in company of birds
A solitude that fills her time

~♂~♀~
He walked away, he is alone
Her nagging words, like circus fleas
A palimpsest his new atone
He smell his freedom in the breeze
~♂~♀~
She shut the door, sojourn at home
Avoiding all his unctuous pals
Was dreaming of a trip to Rome
A weekend with her friends, the gals

~♂~♀~
With tawdry ladies spends his time
Then, seeks imaginary friends
And lost in robbery and crime
He’s driving a Mercedez Benz
~♂~♀~
The fortune telling ludicrous
She’d never meet a man again
But walking strong she’s luminous
In strength so happy to abstain

~♂~♀~
With turbid mind he walks away
And hiding for the world he sees
Inside a cave, his pals betray
His mangled body by some trees
~♂~♀~
In feral ways he found his grave
She still recall their love before
The garden memories she save
But single life she now adore

Every day Shannon M Wendt, publish a prompt #liblit on twitter. It is a great inspiration for writers. A week ago I wrote the first stanza of this poem in iambic tetrameter, and saw there was a story to tell. I think it turned out to be a nice story-poem that I share in complete form here.

  1. Very interesting these collaborations in which you are involved. How many of the verses were yours? Or do I misunderstand, and only the prompt was not yours?

    • All the stanzas are my own, but the prompts were given daily. For instance the second line was “a flea circus” and palimpsest. I did not know the prompts beforehand and had to adopt my “story” to the prompt… I decided to do a his-her story, based on an observation that a man leaving a relationship often cannot handle himself, whereas she once recovered comes out better.
