Writing limericks is about the most difficult that I have ever tried. On twitter it is especially challenging because of the 140 sign limits. Both getting the rhythm right (needing to read them aloud) and making them funny enough is very difficult. Which of course has never prevented me from trying 🙂
Many times my feeble attempts are met with a cold shower.

#5poem word absolute
~~
A girl from Milan (very cute)
But rather poor and destitute
She found her a duke
And that was a fluke
Her power now is absolute
~~
#lqw word napery, meaning tablecloths and linen
~~
If guests are too messy take care
You better avoid all the flair
As for napery
Use a papery
And carefully plan what you wear
~~
I might add new one’s if I manage to make any decent ones.

well done, limericks are harder to create than most would think
I know, and I have failed with many 🙂
Nice change of pace. I’ve never seen limericks on WordPress.
I hope to be able to share more. I find them extremely tricky to write…
I’ll say they are tricky! After reading your post I tried and it is a lot harder than I bet most people think!
You need to read them aloud to get the right rythm. I have failed many many… 🙂 But if I can find them I will post more.
I look forward to them.
I recently tried my hand at limericks too … easier said than done. Thanks for the read.
In Sweden, a physicist, Bjorn,
As a poet was lately reborn.
He writes mostly in English,
(Though sometimes in Swinglish,)
Delighting the cyber-forlorn.
(I could not resist the temptation to do that, although I did try.)
😉 great
For me, I believe the difficulty lies in the sad, harsh, reality that I have not developed a suitable aptitude for writing short jokes with punchlines at the end. Regarding limericks, the form itself is not difficult to master, but the art of making people laugh is another matter altogether.
That is of course one part of it, but second part is the rhythm… It is actually quite difficult to master perfectly. And on twitter it’shard to fit it on 140 characters.
