Sand

As tide is low the sand lay bare
I come from work in suit and shoes
Been’ sitting in my office chair
~~~
Undress from shoes and tie is lose
Oh, treading barefoot cross the sand
My tension gone, I break no fuse
~~~
And bending down I fill my hand
A touch of beach warmed by sun
It gives me peace here at the strand
~~~
Then, have to leave, my visit done
Inside my shoes I keep some sand
Now facing tasks, I can have fun
  1. I like the rhymescheme. It has a Spenserian feel to it. He invented this sort of interlocking rhyme. It is the form he uses for the epic poem “The faerie Qveene,” or “The fairy Queen” back when the “v” and “u” were fairly interchangeable, and spellings were far from standardized. An artifact from Latin, I suppose; although I’m certainly no linguist. I do know that according to what I’ve read, authors of that perious tended to use their own spellings–as a means of leaving a trademark, possibly. But I do know that it is one way to authenticate work of the period as belonging to a certain author.
    If memory serves, it’s this rhymescheme which he expanded and adapted to sonnet form, which is now called a Spenserian sonnet.
    • I had no idea about that, I just played around with rhymeschemes as I sometimes do. As a person with mathematic background I like to do that. I should probably do that more.
  2. I also like walking on the beach in the wet sand. The north coast of the Pacific is particularly nice. Usually too cold and cloudy for sun bathing, most often it is not very crowded, and as such, it is perfect for walking and thinking. I do not find my way there often enough, but when I do, it’s always a treasure.
